Work Phases and Risk Assessment

Work phases are used to describe the specific tasks carried out by workers assigned to various duties.

This is essential to identify hazards caused by the use of material resources (such as workplaces, equipment, and substances), and consequently to identify and assess the risks to workers.

It also makes it possible to determine—based on the worker’s exposure time—the most appropriate mitigation actions to implement, in order to ensure proper prevention and protection.

To create a new Work Phase, click “New”, fill in the desired information in the dialog window, and save.

Risk assessment in 4HSE is carried out using a matrix, accessible via the button inside each risk entry added to the list. This allows you to define Probability and Damage values, which are used to calculate the Initial Risk. Once mitigation actions are associated, you can define their impact on the initial risk, which can also be adjusted over time. This leads to the calculation of the Residual Risk.

  1. Assess a risk
  • Open the matrix by clicking the Risk Assessment button inside each Risk entry

  • Enter the Initial Probability and Damage values to determine the Initial Risk

  • Enter the Impact on Probability and Damage for each Mitigation Action to calculate the Residual Risk
